Household appliance brand short-circuits product shortages to recover over $2M from Amazon

    September 19, 2024

How a global consumer electronics brand reclaimed millions in lost revenue

    THE CUSTOMER

    Leading consumer electronics manufacturer

This global household appliances supplier with $200M+ revenue on Amazon selected CommerceIQ to redefine ecommerce success.

    THE CHALLENGE

    Unexplained product shortages

The brand was experiencing shortages on Amazon due to unknown pallet/carton category discrepancies that were causing the platform to misclassify incoming orders. Because the brand lacked visibility into what was causing the shortages on their end, the problem was inexplicable, recurrent and costing them millions.

    THE SOLUTION

Disputing shortages with Profit Recovery Automation

With CommerceIQ’s integrated retail ecommerce platform, the brand ran a root cause analysis on recurring shortages and discovered that its Autonomous System Number (ASN) formatting was inconsistent with pallet-level shipments—as it was only acceptable for cartons.

Prior methods for disputing shortages couldn’t detect this problem, but with our Profit Recovery Automation solution in place, the brand could:

    • Dispute shortages with automation as they occurred after Amazon Smart Match, with no manual input needed
    • See a single source of truth for shortage claims, disputes approvals, resolution rates and more tracking
    • Use Root Cause Analysis to prevent recurring problems

    The RESULTS

Within 12 months, the consumer electronics brand achieved:

    • $2.28M of profits recovered in phase one of the dispute process alone
    • 55.2% approval rate which remained high
    • 2,300+ shortages disputed with a large surge in the first two months of activation to catch older shortages
Surge in shortages claimed, many of which were approved. Average resolution rate high over time.
